To the attention of Pope Francis

Let us celebrate Life at Easter and not death by killing lambs

Through this petition we wish to request the intervention of Pope Francis in favor of our fellow animals ; especially during Easter, when a very large number of lambs of only a few weeks old will be killed and then eaten to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ.

Indeed, the tradition of eating lamb at Easter has no theological foundation : it is a popular practice that various churches allow, even though it is in direct contradiction with the meaning of Easter, the celebration of Life.

For the Christians who practice it, it is a memorial act of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ ... but which paradoxically abolishes all other forms of sacrifice and represents the victory of life over death !

However, the consumption of lamb meat - a baby animal - increases by more than 50% on the occasion of the Easter holidays, with the killing and the violence that it implies.

Unfortunately, Pope Francis has not pronounced himself in favor of lambs, nor in a clear and precise way, for the millions of animals tortured and killed every day (farmed animals, dogs, cats and bears in bear bile farms tortured in Asia, animal experimentation, fur industry, bullfighting and religious festivals including animal torture, hunting, fishing, the killing of whales, seals, dolphins, sharks, circuses, zoos, abandoned pets ...). On our Earth, the animal is certainly the category of living beings that bear the greatest amount suffering caused by violence ... and this, because of Humans.

Christians should be the first to respect, protect and love animals as creatures of God and not because of their perceived usefulness to us. Unfortunately this is not the case : on the contrary, Christian authorities do not commit themselves to protect animals ; priests never talk about this or with few exceptions. This is why we are directly asking Pope Francis to speak out against the practice of killing and eating lambs during Easter and to take the necessary steps to inform the Christian world and his followers.

We encourage the Pope, the Church and all its members to consider as a serious issue the suffering and abuse of animals by humans, to think deeply about the place of the animal in Creation and to update their knowledge in ethology and maybe....... an Encyclical ?

We thank Pope Francis in advance for the attention and consideration concerning our petition. We look forward to his response.

A la atención del Papa Francisco

Celebremos la Vida en Pascua y no la muerte sacrificando corderos

A través de esta petición, queremos solicitar la intervención del Papa Francisco a favor de nuestros hermanos los animales ; especialmente durante la Pascua, cuando un gran número de corderos de unas pocas semanas de edad serán sacrificados y luego comidos para celebrar la Resurrección de Cristo.

De hecho, la tradición de comer cordero en la Pascua no tiene ningún fundamento teológico : es una práctica popular que las diversas iglesias permiten, a pesar de que es una contradicción directa con el significado de la Pascua. : celebración de la Vida

Para los cristianos que lo practican, es un acto conmemorativo del último sacrificio de Jesucristo ... ¡pero que, paradójicamente, suprime todas las otras formas de sacrificio y representa la victoria de la vida sobre la muerte !

Sin embargo, el consumo de carne de cordero - un animal bebé - aumenta en más del 50% con motivo de las fiestas pascuales , con las muertes y la violencia animal que esto conlleva.

Desafortunadamente, el Papa Francisco no se ha pronunciado a favor de los corderos, ni de manera, clara y precisa por los millones de animales martirizados y asesinados todos los días ( los animales de granjas industriales , los perros, gatos, osos (granjas de bilis de oso) torturados en Asia, animales en laboratorios, corridas de toros y festivales religiosos con tortura animal, la caza, la pesca, la matanza de ballenas, focas, delfines, circos, zoológicos, mascotas abandonadas ...). En nuestra Tierra, el animal es ciertamente la categoría de ser viviente que padece la mayor cantidad de sufrimiento y abuso...y esto, debido al Ser Humano.

Los cristianos deberían ser los primeros en respetar, proteger y amar a los animales como criaturas de Dios y no como utilidades. Lamentablemente, este no es el caso : por el contrario, las autoridades de la Iglesia no se comprometen a defender a los animales ; los sacerdotes nunca hablan de eso, salvo algunas excepciones. Es por eso que le pedimos directamente al Papa Francisco que se pronuncie contra la práctica de matar y comer corderos durante la Pascua y que haga posible informar a sus fieles.

Invitamos al Papa, a la Iglesia y a todos sus miembros a que tomen seriamente el tema del sufrimiento animal causado por el humano ; a reflexionar en profundidad sobre el lugar del animal en la Creación ; y a actualizarse en etología, para tal vez..........una Encíclica ?

Agradecemos de antemano a su Santidad el Papa Francisco por la atención y consideración a esta petición. Esperamos con impaciencia su respuesta
